At St. Mary’s, we believe that every child deserves more than an excellent education – they deserve a childhood filled with memorable experiences that inspire curiosity, build confidence and create lifelong memories. Our St. Mary’s Pledge – Eleven by 11 is our promise that, by the time each child leaves us at the end of Year 6, they will have experienced eleven meaningful activities that broaden their horizons, develop new skills and encourage them to discover the world around them. From visiting a castle, museum and the beach, to exploring different places of worship, learning to swim, trying a new sport, playing a musical instrument and preparing food for themselves, these experiences help children grow both inside and outside the classroom, fostering a love of learning and helping them become confident, compassionate and active citizens within their local community and the wider world.
The Eleven by 11 Pledge reflects our commitment to educating the whole child. While academic success remains at the heart of everything we do, we know that some of life’s most valuable lessons come through shared experiences, new challenges and opportunities that spark imagination. Our pledge develops independence, resilience, creativity and confidence, while encouraging children to appreciate diversity, embrace different cultures and faiths, care for others and understand the positive contribution they can make to society. Rooted in our Christian values of Friendship, Compassion, Service and Forgiveness, the St. Mary’s Pledge ensures that every child leaves our school not only with knowledge and skills, but also with the character, values and sense of responsibility needed to flourish as thoughtful, respectful and engaged citizens. They leave St. Mary’s with treasured memories, greater self-belief and a genuine excitement for the future.
