School Fete 2008 raises over £2400.
|
On a breezy and sunny afternoon, the annual St Mary's Fete got off to a great start, with clowns tumbling around the playground.
There were Year 6 games, guessing the name of the bear or how many sweets in a jar. Some even delighted in having wet sponges and in some cases buckets of cold water thrown over them!!!
The plant stall quickly sold out, showing that we must all be eco friendly avid gardeners at St Mary's! There were hot dogs, catch the duck, book and toy stalls, as well as the popular tombola and bric a brac stalls. Even 'Fun Sports' were organized by Mr Quilter, and very sadly this will be his last fete. He's always there early at the very beginning to set things up and at the very end of the day, to make sure everything is tidied up. We'll miss him next year.

Fund Raising

We try to make the children at St Mary's aware of the plight of others and during the course of a year, raise money for many worthy groups.
In the Next Academic year we will be raising money for children in the refugee camps in Kenya. 'Lucky Families' are being given just £19 to rebuild their homes and lives, having lost everything.

Internet Safety Latest News
|
Are your children persuading you that sites are safe for them to use?
Are you concerned about your child's safe use of the Internet?
Are they and you aware of Internet Safety issues?
This term, we've been covering issues linked to this and on February 12th..International Internet Safety Day KS2 we held an assembly to learn more about the issues on the web and how to be safe, to which many of you came.
Kent and many other local education authorities advise Schools to subscribe to http://www.superclubsplus.com so that all of the pupils in Years 4,5 & 6 can use this safe, social mediated website both at school and at home, in term time and holidays, they can e-mail their friends in safety and have fun creating their webpages, earning their stars and taking part in educational forums.
It also has links to the 'Cybercafe' where they can learn more about Internet Safety.
Look at the other safe links that we have on our website and let your children use them.
LATEST NEWS!
Some of our pupils are being attracted to unsafe sites these do not:
1. Use human mediators, they just have an automatic filtering machine that checks for inappropriate language.
2. Some of the sites you also have to pay for, school has already paid for all of the pupils in years 4-6 to use the safe site of Superclubsplus.
3. People registering for the sites are NOT validated or checked, anyone can join them and become a member in minutes.
4. You don't know who your children are chatting to on line, if they are children or adults as no checks are made on the users.
5. Children will be giving out personal details, (addresses, phone numbers, e-mail accounts very quickly) there is no check being made on the content of their mail or chat.
School DOES NOT recommend the following social sites for the above reasons:
Binweevils... little insects in a bin that talk and play together.
Clubpenguin...small penguins playing and talking to-gether
Runescape...international game with gnomes
Piczo.... USA based site of glitter, music, photos etc:
Dollz...targeted at girls..a social site where they can dress up dolls
Bebo...
My Space
Facebook
The list of online social site grows daily, so please be very aware of what your children are doing online and make sure that their computer is in an open space, where everyone can see it, rather than in their bedrooms.
